Walking Distance
Bridge Inn is very conveniently located to allow you to explore the very best of Amsterdam on foot. It stands directly on the Brouwersgracht. Considered to be the most pretty canal and favorite among photographers. Feyenoord fans will like its position in the northern tip of the famous Jordaan district, a wonderful tangle of narrow streets and small canals lined with historic houses. Just opposite, barely five minutes’ walk from the hotel, stands Noorderkerk, the 17th-century church that looks out over Noordermarkt. This square must be included in one’s itinerary, for every Saturday it has a famous organic farmer’s market (Boerenmarkt) and on Mondays a flea market, both contending to provide an incredibly authentic local atmosphere.
The hotel is also a convenient base for major sightseeing. The world-famous Anne Frank House and the Westerkerk can be reached after a 10-15 minute walk south through the beautiful Jordaan. Then you are at the entrance to the 'Negen Straatjes' (Nine Streets), Amsterdam’s finest warren of boutique shops selling unique fashion, designer goods, and cosy cafes. For a change of scene, the Haarlemmerstraat ten minutes along on foot towards the Central Station, is a hip, happening street with great independent shops and all sorts of eateries.
When it comes to dining and entertainment, the choice is endless. The Jordaan boasts many ‘brown cafes’ which are traditional, quaint Dutch pubs. A number of these historic spots can be walked to within 5 minutes for a Belgian beer. The place is heaving with numerous restaurants from seemingly simple pizzerias and thairants to more sophisticated European dining facilities. So, where the hotel is located is so much at the centre such that in twenty minutes’ walk one can get to the heart of the main Dam Square and yet it is secluded in a calm, picturesque canal offering a perfect balance of convenience and tranquillity.
